Jeszcze na oryginalnym Shadow Brokerze pisaliśmy o tym, że w 2010 roku EA sprzedało prawa do marki Mass Effect w postaci filmu. Wtedy to prawa do stworzenia takowego nabyła wytwórnia Legendary Pictures.
